H-H-Hiccup...?

Said Toothless while moving slowly closer to his master. He was shocked, still couldn’t believe what he had seen only minutes ago. He climbed carefully on the boy's chest, and rested one of his claws on Hiccup's chin.

"M-m-master?" - Said Toothless

He was getting worried, Hiccup was paler than normal, and the blood pouring from his head was getting Toothless nauseated, but he did not care that much. The dragon bit Hiccup's nose trying to wake him up, like he usually did in the middle of the night when he was hungry for oysters. Hiccup didn't move. Then he tried to jump on his stomach, to make him lose his breath. Nothing happened.

"W-W-WAKE UP!! T-T-Toothless wants to go home!! Toothless is f-f-frozen!! T-T-Toothless is h-h-hungry!! WAKE UP!!" - Toothless was jumping, biting, and squealing around in the most annoying way he could.

But Hiccup kept motionless. For a moment, Toothless could not feel the cold anymore, the wind stopped howling, and everything disappeared. The only thing he could see is Hiccup lying on the ground, covered with green dragon blood. Dead...? But then his body was wavering as Toothless’ vision was getting blurred in a way that had never happened before. It was like he was drowning on water. His throat began to ache, as if a mouse that was eaten alive, was trying to get out. Toothless was restless. Yet paralyzed. Then the dragon began to get angry, he wanted that feeling to go away, it was painful, he hates pain.

Dragons are selfish, dragons have no feelings for humans, a dragon in this situation should just fly away.

That was what Toothless was mentally telling for himself. But that feeling was holding him, he remembers this feeling. It is the same feeling that makes him crawl into the Green Death's nostril. That makes him jump on a Roman boat. The feeling that makes him distract Shark-Dragons. And maybe, the same feeling that makes Hiccup, a cautious and cunning boy, do something so stupid and imprudent.

I should find someone, I should find help.

But he couldn't leave Hiccup like that, the snow would cover him very soon, and the boy would be gone forever. Also, something just held Toothless to him. In a way he could not leave his master. Hiccup was getting colder and colder, Toothless lay his body on Hiccup's chest once again, trying to keep his heart warm...
At that moment, he was afraid he’d never get to eat the biggest lobster again, or be petted behind the horns, or be carried on the shoulder. At that moment, he wanted to catch some fish, never make a mess in the kitchen again. The thing he wanted most, more than all the fish in the world, was that humans could also 'sleep in a coma' just like dragons... so Hiccup's heart would beat again soon...


"H-h-heelp...." - said Toothless... in a way he knew nobody would listen...
